A lot of people say that you don't win points off your serve. Slowly but surely over the years, I've been disagreeing with this point. Pickleball players as a whole are getting good enough to the point where they can begin to do more with their serve. It's not just about power, it's about taking advantage of positioning, angles, and topspin. Practice these when you go play tonight!

Selkirk Labs review - has this gone too far?
I love your videos❤❤❤ please post more video weekly if you can . Thanks a lot 😍😍😍 ❤❤❤
I should be back at it now!
Is it legal to throw the ball slightly in the air and serve it when you don't let it hit the ground? I'm a newbie so asking.
Sure is!
Feedback wanted! How do you guys like the clips on the computer? Does it help?
Thanks for the tips, also the slow motion helpful on the last serve especially!
My pleasure and thanks for watching!0
I am going to work on this change up serve tomorrow morning!
Nice! Let me know how it goes!
Whats up with the socks?
Nice instructions detailed and clear. Love your vids.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you
My pleasure
Very helpful, thanks.
Thanks!
Thank you very much!
Good video
Thanks!
Just add an over grip if you want more weight 😉
We have missed you and your content! Welcome back!
Thanks!
Love your videos. Looks like a great move. 😊
Thank you! And yes indeed it is!
Tip number 1- don’t!
I try to assist players (our club has grown from 150 to over 600 in just 5 years) up to 3.5 with recommendations for books (Phil Dunmeyer's) and videos, and I always list your channel. Your presentations have always been among the best with a perfect instructional tone. Congrats on the move.
I really appreciate that and congrats on the growth. That's amazing.
Very helpful!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the update! I’m looking forward to the new content. I’m also very appreciative that you’re going to focus on the game and not paddles!
I’m glad too honestly. It’s also just so tough to keep up with!
It's great to see you back in action! We're looking forward to seeing the new content! -Webby
Thanks guys!
Missed you. You have the best top spin shot that I have seen online. If I didn't live so far away, I would come for lessons. 🤷♂
Thanks a lot I appreciate it
Great advice 😊
Thanks, I’m glad it was helpful!
Thanks for taking the time to make this video. Just limiting mistakes will win games. The team that makes less mistakes and is able to wear down the other team into making mistakes by volleying will win.
My pleasure, thanks for watching
Barrett, please show ala camera what the ball actually does after hitting the ground
U are so amazing we love u
I love the talk about the footwork and how it relates to imagined control of what is going on with the ball on the other side of the court. That is very key! Thank you!
Excellent instruction! So glad I found this video. Thank you for the clear direction. I have been playing for 4 months, and am doing well, and gotten a lot of instruction from the 3.5-4.0 crowd. But it hasn't been this clear. One production note as a videographer/photographer: Move your stuff from against the fence and put them elsewhere so they don't clutter up your scene. 😁
Thanks for watching! And yes you’re right!
I really like that locked arm shoulder technique, especially the Hershey kiss illustration it’s a good way to remember how to swing, thank you for sharing. It was quite helpful.💪🏻
I’m glad it helped, thanks for watching
Instructions for all of us. Right to the point. Everything I saw I experience on a daily basis. Thanks for the video and thanks for the instruction. Footwork is a must.
Thanks for watching!
Excellent tips I’m a beginner and help me a lot, I do play racquetball and I must correct my shots and movements, thanks again
Thank you!
If the ball bounces outside of the kitchen, can I still hit it while standing in the kitchen? Or does it HAVE to bounce in the kitchen?
If the ball had bounced then you can hit from anywhere lol
fn stupid rules... smh 🤦♂️ not dissing this video but whoever came up with that is mentally challenged. if u step out before u hit the ball how is anyone really gonna track that without a ref. hitting a volley in the kitchen, yes.. but even ur momentum carrying u into the kitchen after a shot even if it hits the ground before u land ur foot in their should be totally legal. this aint even debatable. what u should do as the receiver with a shot like that is simply pelt it back at them before they have a chance to get out. i had this dumb argument today and even tho i was wrong it is just so stupid of a rule. if it was the opposite end and someone did it to me, as long as they didnt camp at the front of the net and hit a volley.. no big deal 😑
Your blocks are with the paddle face slightly open, they are not with the face tilted down, as you stated they should be. You shouldn't coach people to tilt the paddle face down on most blocks, it will go into the net-- and again, you're not even doing that in this video, your face is slightly open. Also, why are you sounding annoyed right from the jump? Are you sick of teaching 3.0's that keep making the same mistakes over and over again? It sounds like it, lol.
Hi Barrett! We have recently started playing pickle ball without racquet sport back ground. I can not put more powder to my back hand ground stroke
What if you jump spike and land on your opponent and die before you land in the kitchen is that still count fault
I currently have a beginner paddle (Onix Z3) and I enjoy the feel. Can you please recommend an upgrade with similar characteristics?
I love pickleball - thank you for the tips.
I see you open your paddle face a bit on balls the just clear the net, use a neutral face on slightly higher balls and a slightly closed face for any ball that's higher.....
What about BLOCKING?!?!?
You said that your opponent cannot make the call on their own shot, but if they see that the shot is clearly out and you did not see it. They should call it out.
I'm a 2.25 ! Where's my tribe
Great video
Would have liked some discussion on backhand punch volleys.
Neither the manufacturers or the retail outlets nor some of the sponsored players can be trusted it would appear. The quality control issues faced by the buying public are evidence that there seems to be only one motive and that is greed. As an old aged retired player I cannot afford to purchase new paddles every few months. I played with a $45 paddle starting 3 years ago, moving to a $95 paddle after my first year. My most recent paddle $250, was purchased on the basis of a reviewer who stated it was one of the top spin paddles and that it was his go to paddle, the best thing since sliced bread. I have since learned that it may or may not be the paddle I thought I was buying. Outside of one manufacturer it would appear that profit and not overall game improvement is the motivation in the manufacturing arena. As to listening to player endorsements I have heard(but cannot prove) that certain players are using old paddle technology with new paddle graphics in order to dupe the public into a paddle that maybe of questionable quality. It is my opinion that if the manufacturers are allowed to proceed unchecked the sport will eventually cease to be the big draw and that it will implode on itself.
Great video! I laugh inside when players duff a shot and then look at their paddle. The paddle is the last point in a chain of what is considered a good shot. Every good shot starts with footwork, body positioning and balance. Fix the footwork and the actual hitting the ball gets consistent which leads to less errors.
The big muscle rotation looks very minimum, but I trust you l 😊
Rules about the "out" ball have changed since this video was made.
Would you do a video for hand work specifically to follow through. I viewed your how to serve video many times. I still can’t do it…
I actually take out my older gx5 control once in awhile, mainly cause i still love its size & wieght and i can generate power from it at the right times. Main paddle has been Bread & Butter Filth.awesome paddle aweful edge gaurd i cant stand, gets wierd tip offs here and there&its kinda a small paddle to start off with. I want to try another gearbox with a bit more power but not sacrifice the control of gx5 and would love the same dimensions of gx 5 or close to it. Any suggestions?
And by the way when I take out Gx5 control in 4.0 to 4.5 rec games. The gx5 is no slouch. Great underrated paddle, forces you to keep you placement in check& thats the real bonus with gx5 control.
Thanks for putting my mind at ease. I did my first official rec play session a week ago and the guy I was playing against told me I need to use my hips and not just my arm. I went from a decent, but consistent and deep serve to missing almost every one. I’ve been practicing this all week, and although it’s getting better I’m still not there yet so I’ll hold off another week before I start implementing it.
